Isn't it kind of weird that Dr. Seward has a thing for Lucy and he's also the one who has to examine her and nurse her back to heatlh? I mean that's kind of depressing trying to help someone who turned down your proposal. I could'nt have done that..Could you guys?
Although I havent read the book I see what you are saying. How do you help someone hwo hurt you like that? Well I guess it can be done! :)
ReplyDeleteI guess once you love someone, you always care for them, even if the feeling isn't quite mutual. I'm sure Dr. Seward wanted to do the right thing by helping Lucy, because I doubt he would have wished for her to lose her life.
ReplyDeleteHe probably did this to let Lucy know that he still cared about her... like jjmak said, even though she did not pick him. And plus society recalls helping others as a social norm. Would you help a crush if he was in danger even though he picked your friend over you, for example?
ReplyDeleteI don't think Seward is crazy. He just has a good heart. And it really does depends on what kind of heart you have. If you really, really like somebody, then you'll do whatever for them no matter what. But if you feel as if your crush doesn't like you back and they broke your heart then you won't really care for them and try to protect him.(: Don't you think?
ReplyDeleteI think it is a very sweet thing he does for her becuase even though she did turn him down she did it gentely and he understood that they were only to be friends, and in a way this was his chance to be "with her" if you want to see it like that because he was looking after her in sort of a way that a husband would, but i think he handled the matter professionally
ReplyDeleteThese are good points, but I still don't think if this was a real person that he'd help. People are way too selfish in reality..We say we would but we're really thinking "I don't wanna help somebody who broke my heart for another man."
ReplyDeleteYes I would actually because yes Dr. Sewerd is crazy and Lucy did turn down his proposal,b ut he is still in love with her. I mean when someone has love it never goes away. Also Lucy's vampire abilities might have been a factor. For a a vampirous beauty is trancing just like the three phantom women in the beging of the story.
