Something vital... the Heart...? Well, not in this case...

There were many characters in the novel but in my opinion there's not one that is more vital than the other. Though there probably is one that contributes more to the plot than the others. Who do you guys think it is?

  1. I think it might be Jonathan Harker, because the novel begins from his perspective, which sets the mood for the rest of the story. Although the entire story does not revolve around him, he remains a vital contributor to the plot from start to finish, and does so more than any of the others, in my opinion.

  2. Yes, very true. My favorite character is probably Van Helsing -- and not only cause he has a cool name. Hah. He knew a lot and because of him they were able to stop Count Dracula. I believe that any other characters could have appeared and been in trouble but only he had some idea of what to do. So that is why I believe he is a vital contributor. He seemed like the team leader to me. [:

  3. I agree with mannycakesmonica..Van Helsing was the man with the plan. He had all these ideas and his knowledge of supernatural things was strangely expanded.

  4. I think that Harker is the main contributer. Not that helsing wasnt an important character, just that everything did start with harker, he introduced us to all the themes we would face in this novel
